What Is Special Education?

Special education is governed by federal law in most educational jurisdictions. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Special Education is specially designed instruction, at no cost to parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. Special education is in place to provide additional services, support, programs, specialized placements, or environments to ensure. That all student’s educational needs are provided for. Special education is provided to qualifying students at no cost to the parents. There are many students who have special learning needs and these needs are addressed through special education. Some Children are easily identified as candidates for special needs and education from their medical history. They may have been diagnosed with a genetic condition that is associated with mental relation may have a developmental disorder may have visual or hearing disabilities.

In most developed countries, educators are modifying teaching methods and environments so that the maximum number of students are served in general education environments. Special education in developed countries is often regarded less as a “place” and more as “a range of services, available in every school. A child with a disability is eligible for special study and related services.

What Is Special Education?

This term includes a child who is evaluated and determined to have Some various: autism, deafness, deaf-blindness, developmental delay (if your school division allows the use of this category), emotional disability, hearing impairment and deafness, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury or a visual impairment, including blindness. If any child is suspected of autism then that child needs special study. Autism is considered to be the major eligible category for various special study services.

If any child is mentally retarded then he/she needs special study. Mental retardation can be determined by the score of a child’s IQ and if a child gets below 75 scores then he/she is considered to be in the range of mental retardation. Many children need special study if they are emotionally disturbed. Moreover, many children get disturbed so parents should give them special attention and special education to them.

What is special education and why is it important

Severe and intense impairment is not fixed by different glasses so in that case child needs special education in order to improve his/her visual ability. Special education is very important and necessary if the child suffers from blindness and is deaf. If a child has a learning disability like dyslexia, visual processing disorder, and many more disabilities then the child needs special education in order to overcome his/her learning disabilities.

Who qualifies as a parent?

Special study law defines parents as:

  • Biological or adoptive parent
  • Guardian
  • A person acting in place of a parent (such as a grandparent or stepparent with whom the child lives or a person legally responsible for the child’s welfare)
  • Surrogate parent
  • Foster parent, under specific circumstances
  • Either parent, unless there is evidence of a legally binding instrument, state law, or court order that has terminated a parent’s parental rights.
