Four major steps are compulsory for wazoo.
- Washing face
- Washing hands up to elbows
- Wiping head with wet palms
- Washing feet up to ankles
Step by step wazoo should be performed as mentioned below:
First make Niyyat (Intention) saying
In the name of Allah the most Merciful, the most Kind. It is noted that intention is always made in heart.
Washing the hands three times:
After making intention, you have to wash both hands up to the wrists three times and make sure that water has reached between the fingers.
Gargling and sniffing: Then put a handful of water into your mouth three times and rinse the mouth thoroughly. Then sniff water into the nostrils and wash your nose three times. Try to make reach the water in the end of the nose.
Wash the face three times: You should wash the face three times starting from right ear to left ear and from forehead to throat.
Wash the left and right arm: Wash the right arm and then left arm thoroughly from wrist to elbow three times.
Wiping over the head: Then move the wet palms of both hands over head, starting from the top of the forehead to the back of the head.
Clean the ears by inserting the tips of the index fingers into the ears. Twist them round the folds of the ears. Then wipe the back of the ears with your thumbs from bottom of the ear upwards. (ONLY ONCE)
In Fiqqah Jafaria, shia Muslims skip the above step they don’t put fingers in the grooves and holes of both ear neither they wipe the neck in the back side.
Wash the feet: Start washing your feet to the ankles beginning from the right foot to the left foot between the toes. Make sure that water has reached all the parts of foot.
In the end of all the steps recite:
Meaning: “I testify that there is no one worthy to be worshipped except Allah, and He is one and has no partner and I also testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.”
