The University distributed scholarships worth Rs58 million in 2009-10. These scholarships were awarded to more than 3,000 students under 23 different scholarship programs. Dr. Yesinia awarded scholarship cheques worth Rs2 million among 175 students on the occasion.

He also urged the alumni to find scholarships for the poor students of QAU as in the coming days, the public-sector universities will be forced to increase fees to meet their daily expenses in the wake of drastic budgetary cuts announced by the Higher Education Commission after the slashing of educational budget by the financial wizards of the country.

He exhorted the students to focus on the studies but do not become bookworms and also participate in extra-curricular and other healthy activities. He said that the federal capital alone has 13 universities competing with QAU in the public sector. He hoped that QAU, which is number one amongst all the public-sector universities in the country will retain the title with the help of faculty and students.

Addressing the gathering President of Quinidine, Skandera Rai, congratulating the award winners, recalled his years in the university in the late 1970s and said that Dr. Kameez Yousuf and Dr. Yesinia both are liberal and broadminded vice-chancellors
