Class 8th Exams Intensified FDE,FBISE: The tug-of-war between the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) over the commencement of examinations for class eighth has intensified, as the officials of both institutions are determined to conduct papers under their respective organisations.
According to sources, the FDE and the FBISE are yet to decide as to which one of them would conduct the examinations after the announcement by Federal Minister for Education Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali Khan that the papers for class eighth would be taken by the FBISE instead of the FDE. However, no written notification has been issued in this regard.
Talking to ‘The News,’ FDE Director General Aurangzeb Rehman said that the examinations for class eight would be taken by the Federal Directorate of Education as usual. “We have had several meetings in this regard after which we have decided to conduct the examinations under the FDE,” he said.
He, however, maintained that the final decision in this regard would be taken today (Monday), as the federal minister for education was busy due to the arrival of the Chinese premier.
On the other hand, FBISE Chairperson Shaheen Khan maintained that the examinations for class eighth would be conducted by the FBISE, as announced by the education minister. “This time the FBISE would conduct the examinations for class eighth,” she said while talking to ‘The News’.
Replying to a question, as to why the notification in this regard could not be issued so far, she said that the notification regarding the commencement of the examination under the FBISE would be issued today (Monday).
The ambiguity over the commencement of the class eighth examination has caused panic among school administrations, students and parents, as they are yet not clear, as to which department would conduct the examination for class eight. Previously, the examinations for class eight and class fifth were conducted by the FDE.
