The Australian Department of Education, Science & Training is represented in Pakistan at the Australian High Commission in Islamabad. Their role is to enhance the international education links between Australia & Pakistan and provide information about the Australian education system to students interested in the opportunities available in Australia.

In particular, they:

• liaise with the Government of Pakistan on issues of bilateral significance in the area of education, science and training, so as to increase mutual understanding in these areas and contribute to strong relations between both countries
• Work closely with education communities in both countries and foster alliances between education institutions in Australia and Pakistan
• provide objective information to students and promote Australian education and training to students who are considering studying in Australia at our office in Islamabad
• Work closely with the Australian Education Representatives in Pakistan, to ensure that Australian agents provide the best service to Pakistani students.

Australia Study Visa Fee, Requirements, Rules and Policies

FEE STRUCTURE:

Anyone intending to undertake 3 months or longer full-time course in a registered course in Australia needs to obtain a student visa. A student visa permits the holder to travel to, enter and remain in Australia for the duration of the registered course of study. The Student visa application processing fee is currently Rs 22,900 and is non-refundable.

Before a student can apply for a student visa, a valid offer letter from a CRICOS registered Australian institute is required

English Proficiency :

An IELTS score is a mandatory requirement and an evidence of this must be included at the time of application for the student visa. TOEFL is not accepted. The following tables shows the IELTS test score required for different levels of study:

In Pakistan, the two authorized testing agencies for IELTS are the Australian Education Office (AEO) and the British Council.

The cost of undertaking an IELTS test is around Pak Rs 8,300 and the test score is valid for a period of two years.

If you obtain a score marginally less than what is required for the Australian student visa, you may opt to take an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) in Australia along with the main stream course.

An IELTS test cannot be repeated within three months of your previous test.

An applicant must demonstrate that they can support their tuition and living expenses while studying in Australia. The financial resource that you need to show to the visa office varies between the different study levels. You need to do your financial calculations carefully as part of your research.

• Educational Requirement:

Undergraduate:

To gain entry into an Australian undergraduate course you will need to have an Australia Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 12), or the overseas equivalent. Some undergraduate courses may also have specific pre-requisite subjects.

Postgraduate:

As well as the satisfactory completion of at least one degree at undergraduate level, your institution may take research ability or relevant work experience into consideration.

Vocational education and training:

Generally there are no other entrance exams for VET institutions. However some courses may have specific pre-requisite subjects or work experience requirements.

Schools:

Entry requirements can vary between schools in Australia, depending on the state or territory you will be studying in. Academic performance and ability is considered during the selection process.
