Another School Blown Up

The sources said that a group of about 50 militants entered Government Boys High School at Malakana in the Nawagai subdivision and planted devices at separate points in the building. The militants, the sources added, later came out of the building and detonated the devices that partially damaged rooms, offices, and veranda.

The number of schools so far destroyed in Bajaur rose to 71, depriving thousands of students of education. Educational institutions, it may be added, had remained shut because of winter vacation in the areas where peace prevailed or where the situation was still volatile. “The militants have intensified sabotage activities in the area in a bid to force the security forces to stop the ongoing operation in Bajaur tribal region,” the sources said.
